ANSWERS
- What is the SpeediCator™?
The SpeediCator™ is a patented car and driver monitoring device, designed to continuously and automatically record and store driving behavior and vehicle performance data and monitor the vehicle’s speed to alert the driver when set speed limits have been exceeded.
- How does it work?
It is using a miniature camera to take pictures of your car’s speedometer and records speed, excessive accelerations, sudden breaks, distance traveled and more. The SpeediCator is setup in front of the speedometer and continuously takes pictures of the needle and speedometer. The miniature computer inside the SpeediCator then analyzes the movements of the speedometer needle and records the data in its memory. When a set speed limit has been exceeded, the SpeediCator will provide an audio-visual alarm in order to instruct the driver to reduce vehicle’s speed. All the information may be uploaded to a PC and viewed in our SpeediCator PC software.
- Is it complicated to install?
No! It takes no more than a minute to setup and adjust the SpeediCator in front of the speedometer needle, gluing it to the transparent speedometer cover using double-sided tape. Everybody can do it!
- Why provide a speed limit alarm?
It has been proved in a number of researches that a real time audio-visual alarm to the driver can lower the risk of being involved in fatal car accidents.
- Why record speed, acceleration, distance and sudden braking?
These are the four key elements which the SpeediCator™ monitors: continuous speed, total distance traveled, excessive acceleration and number of sudden brakes for each trip in the car.
- Maximum Speed – Shows whether or not the driver obeyed the posted speed limits
- Distance Traveled – Shows whether or not the driver obeyed any distance restrictions imposed on him/her.
- Sudden Brakes and Excessive acceleration – Shows whether or not the driver was involved in tailgating, inattention, distraction or speeding.
- Can it really calculate and show the Output (Horse Power) and Torque of my car?
The SpeediCator’s™ PC software is capable of analyzing the information gathered from your vehicle’s 0..100km/h test drives and displaying charts showing your vehicle’s Horse Power output and Torque vs. RPM. See your operations manual for more information.
- Is this a GPS device?
The SpeediCator™ is NOT a GPS device. It does not track the whereabouts of the driver and does not compromise his/hers privacy. On top of that, it allows us to provide a relatively low cost product with no monthly fees!
- Are there any vehicles that are incompatible with the SpeediCator™?
The SpeedoCator™ uses a special miniature camera to take pictures of the speedometer needle and is generally incompatible with digital speedometers, simply because they do not have a needle!
There are a number of known cases in which the SpeediCator™ does not function properly on cars with standard analog speedometers:
- 2005 – 2010 Mazda 3
- 2009 – 2010 Toyota Corolla
- 2005 – 2010 Daihatsu Sirion
- 2003 – 2010 Toyota Yaris
- How long will the battery last?
The SpeediCator is using a single CR2032 lithium battery with a typical 1 year life.
